Camtasia Relay

relay

The College's Brenton Center has new software technology, Camtasia Relay, available to instructors.

Relay gives you the ability to:

  • Easily record your lecture audio and any desktop activity
  • Record from the convenience of your classroom, office or home
  • Deliver lectures to students via stream or download

There are many important reasons, especially in an economic downturn, for offering recorded lectures to on-campus students in addition to distance learners.

Reasons to consider using Relay:

  • Teach more students in less time
Capture the lectures you already give in the classroom and offer these recorded lectures as an online-only section of the course. This means giving the same number of lectures while increasing the number of students you teach.
  • Stay competitive to ensure future enrollment
Results of a survey of students conducted by UC Irvine last fall showed that 93% of students said lecture capture would be a factor in selecting one program over another, and 82% would pay higher tuition for a program that offered lecture capture.
  • Expand continuing education programs
Many workers are seeking opportunities for professional development to expand skills, or retraining to make them more marketable in a tough economy. Similarly, numerous new graduates, discouraged by the job market, are looking to grad school as a safe haven.

If you have more questions about using Camtasia Relay in the distance education environment you can contact the Brenton Center at agchat@iastate.edu.
