
Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is an ISU Net-ID?An ISU Net ID is used to log into various forms of communication throughout the university. You will use your Net-ID and the password you set up upon registration to log into WebCT (online course delivery site) and to check your ISU email account. I forgot my Net-ID password, how do I reset it?Your ISU Net-ID password allows you to log into various authenticated services (such as WebCT or email). If you have forgotten your password, you can have it reset. To reset your Net-ID password go to the Password Change Form at: Password Change Either fill it out online, print it, OR print it out, fill it in, and fax it back to the IT Solution Center at 515-294-9062. You will need a copy of a photo ID in order to successfully change your password.
After I submit my registration form, what is my next step?Upon completion of the registration form, students will receive a confirmation email from the Office of the Registrar. Please note you are not officially registered until you have received this confirmation email. New students at Iowa State University will receive a letter explaining the process of registering for AccessPlus.
Can I get financial aid to cover my disance education courses?There is financial aid available for distance education courses. Check out the Financial Aid website for more information on the different types of loans available for all students. Remember, in order to receive aid you need to fill out the FAFSA. The earlier you submit your FAFSA information, the better loan availability you receive. If your employer needs to be billed for your tuition, you may use AccessPlus after your registration is accepted. Under Account/Ubill, complete the Billing Info Release option for the third party statement.
Do I have to be accepted into a graduate degree program before I can take a course?No. Students may transfer up to nine credits of coursework into a degree program. This allows students to take courses before they enroll in a degree program so they can see if taking courses as on off-campus student will work for them.
How are distance education courses delivered to students?Within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, distance education courses are taught using a number of different media venues to bring the classroom to you. These different media formats offer the students and faculty options to make their courses as effective as possible and enhance the learning experience. The most common delivery formats for our distance education courses are: Internet/Web based, Media based (CD-ROM's or DVD's), and streaming media. What is a delivery fee?The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences distance education department charges an off-campus delivery fee. The fee supports direct expenses such as duplicating and mailing CD-ROMs/DVD's, paying for ICN transmission, providing technical support for distance learning delivery, and rent for buildings outside campus. The delivery fees also help support the people and infrastructure to deliver courses and programs to off-campus students. When looking up individual classes on our Courses Web Page the delivery fee for each course is listed.
How can I pay my University bill?In order to pay your University bill you need to log into AccessPlus and click on the Account/U-Bill link under the Student tab. You can then view your Current Month's Activity and Pay Bill Online. You may also pay with a check sent to the Treasurer's Office located on campus in Beardshear Hall Room 1220. Debit cards are also accepted, although no phone transactions are allowed.
How do I purchase my textbooks and course materials?You can purchase your textbooks or other course materials from the ISU bookstore or Campus Bookstores. You can order them online at: http://www.isubookstore.com/Home.aspx or http://stores.cbsames.net/StoreFront.bok. Follow the Order Textbooks link to get your order started. You can also order your textbook online from a different vendor but should make sure you are ordering the correct edition, and should always verify the ISBN numbers.
